DEFINITIONS:
Grog: Crushed fired clay that is added to wet clay to reduce shrinkage. It is what gives the clay a sandy or rough feel.

Wedging: Working the clay in a way that creates a more even clay and eliminates air pockets. If you do not eliminates air pockets, you will create a pot that could blow up in the kiln and also destroy other student's work. We use a technique called the "Ram's Head Spiral."
What we're doing today.... (no need to write down)
1. Complete a pinch pot with out instruction. This is not expected to be your best work--just try your best. After you have shown me your pot, save this piece and put it in your ceramic locker.
2. Instruction on how to wedge clay.
3. Instruction on how to make a pinch pot correctly.
4. Students will start on first pinch pot and cut in half to check the thickness of the walls before moving onto the first project.
